Our
Philosophy
In today's
society, competitive athletics are highly valued and sports
achievements are economically and financially as rewarding
as those in any other profession. As cultural beings, we
constantly seek new ways to teach and model elements of
successful living in society. Athletes have become important
role models in society, and the sport of soccer represents
an important vehicle to inculcate important life lessons
for our children.
To fully
and truly extract all potential real life lessons in soccer,
or any sport for that matter, it is essential to gain a
very high level of understanding of the sport as well as
the elements that govern it. The love of a sport allows
an individual to explore the skills of the game, which gives
them the power to succeed at it, and shed a little more
light on the skills of life. Through such individuals, we
gain knowledge about what it takes to get to the top and
set the stage for others to raise the bar on a sport, thus
giving society further insight into the capabilities of
humankind. Through this sport (soccer) i pledge to model
and teach elements of pleasant and successful living in
our community.
At Ferdie´s
Soocer Magic Academy we believe The game is driven by the
quality and intensity of individual relationships with the
ball. Therefore any development program intending to raise
the level of players or the game, especially at the youth
level, must involve and center around elements that increase
the intensity and quality of individual relationships. Focusing
and specializing on individual skills enabled us to research
deeper into habits and elements needed at an early age to
succeed at the highest levels of the game.
We conduct
on-going research on trends, concepts, and habits in American
youth soccer, and compare the results with data we collect
from the most successful Youth World Cup and World Cup nations-Ghana
and Brasil. This cross-cultural research revealed that American
kids do not understand the soccer ball as well, because
they are not taught how to play with the ball so that they
can develop an appreciation and an appetite for it. This
appetite for the ball is what feeds their game. Imagine
the game of a ten year old who understands how to make the
ball not spin, spin backwards only, spin sideways only,
juggle the ball consistently below the knee, can juggle
a ball 95 times in 30seconds, can handle the ball like it
is glued to the foot, can juggle standing on one leg only.
Just imagine! Well, this is what we found in places like
Ghana and Brasil and more recently, Spain. It is certain
that all great and outstanding players of the game have
one thing in common - An insatiable appetite and desire
for the ball. FSM program is effective because it focuses
on developmental habits, which are the roots of skill development.
We are dedicated to creating unique and innovative methods
that teach kids how to play with and enjoy a soccer ball.
Playing with the ball is the most essential element in youth
development worldwide. When you join us you will realize
how easy it is to be good, and how fun soccer is when you
have the ability to make others look "stupid".
Soccer
is about life- Life is about love- Love is the Ball. Yo,
when you find love keep it!
This
equation explains the purpose of the game, which sheds light
on the purpose of life. That life is a quest to seek love
and once found your objective is to hold on to it. Most
of us in life lose loved ones as quickly as we find them
because we lack the daily habits and skills needed to hold
onto love, or we simply don't quite understand the purpose
of life, yet. Most soccer players give the ball away just
as fast for the same reason- a lack of skills and or a lack
of understanding. For the most part, kids practice what
adults in their community or environment preach to them.
Go to a youth soccer match and you are bound to hear from
the sidelines "GET RID OF IT" and "GET IT
OUT OF THERE", exactly what our kids aspire to in a
match. By modeling and teaching habits that show them how
to keep love in their game, we are in fact giving them the
skills they need to succeed in life. Fun and success in
soccer has everything to do with a player's relationship
with their ball. What I have discovered is that most kids
simply never realized that they could actually just play
with their ball outside of a match. That there is something
besides banging a ball against a wall in my backyard. Teaching
"how to play" with a soccer ball will improve
the relationship between a player and the ball. This is
the most essential element missing in American soccer. FSM
gives you the skills of the game, by teaching you how to
play with your ball to enjoy it and thus, master it. We
teach subtle little ways to carry and caress the ball, and
then puzzle them with unique tricks and habits that make
them wrinkle their brows and go "how you do that"?
They quickly become hooked trying to figure things out and
voila! Our job is done. We teach players to realize that
to be a good skillful player requires playing with the ball.
To be a good team requires practice. Contrary to popular
belief, the responsibility for acquiring skills is the player's
not the coach's. However, telling kids to practice at home
does not work, but showing them how to enjoy a soccer ball
will give them all the practice they need. FSM program works
because it exposes players to habits that make playing with
the ball fun and challenging, making them more passionate
about their skills, so that they can express more love in
their game. The equation is very simple: NO LOVE NO SKILL,
NO SKILL NO GAME®!. When you play with LOVE, you look
Confident, Graceful, Expressive, and Creative. Then people
want to pay to watch you play. There is no feeling in the
world better than this, if you are a soccer player.
